How I Had The Best golf vacation In Lagos, portugal
The historical town of Lagos is pleasing to the senses
I had already heard a lot about Lagos and its golfing options, and all things were positively pleasant. Wanting to go there for a long time, I finally made it in the last golfing season and I am glad I did. Here is how I had a great time with my friends in Lagos.
Grottos
Coastline of Lagos is the most scenic element of the place. The brown orange limestone is eroded into arches, grottos and intriguing stacks, with little coves slipped among them. These formations are mainly accessible by sea. You can go there by boat from the stands along Avenida dos Descobrimentos.
Slave Market
Lagos used to be the first slave market of Europe built in 1444. Slaves from Africa were captivated here for selling across the continent. By 1470, this trade of slavery was transferred to Lisbon. Even though the stories of slavery and misery are not very pleasant to hear, but you must visit the place once to experience the history.
The historic center of Lagos
The history of Lagos is extensive and you must acquaint yourself with it by visiting the city center. You can visit numerous churches, two forts, and the building of slave market. Half a day is enough to spend a happy time getting to know the history of this ancient time.
Meia Praia Beach
This extensive beach is stretched across the bay from Lagos to the mouth of lagoons. Meia Praia beach offers clean waters and golden sands, which makes it a perfect location for pleasant day out on the beach. Even when the tourist season is at its peak, you can find space to lie down or walk.
Tour to Silves
This is a traditional and charming fortified town situated in northern Algarve. It was a major Moorish settlement and the red brick castle originates from this Age. You can have a good day trip and you can come here by Algarve railway. Even though Silves does not fall in Lagos, but it is not far away either to have a day trip.
The Castle
The Castle was built in 13th century, but was badly damaged by the earthquake of Lisbon. With the recent efforts of reconstruction, it was rebuilt with hundreds meters of long walls, honoring their genuine towers and doors. The place is a must visit if you are in Lagos.
